Ok, that title is a big build up to a very disappointing Twitter account. Ms. Walters, one of the co-hosts of “The View” and “20/20,” has hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter. As I began to peruse her tweets, I discovered something disturbing. She has been tweeting since April 20th of this year–over six months. [...]

But she has only 54 updates (“tweets”), which is about one every four days. Ms. Walters does not engage others with her Twitter account; no retweets and no @ replies to ANYONE. No links posted or twitpics whatsoever. She only follows four other people–FOUR!. Finally, if you read her tweets, they are entirely uninteresting. This from a supposedly well-travelled, world-class journalist. Here’s the crazy thing: almost 500,000 people are following her and almost 2,000 people have “listed” her (that’s a lot, by the way, for a new Twitter feature). Why??? There’s nothing going on here to warrant any followers!

Enough with the rant for now. If you are REALLY bored, you can follow Ms. Walters at http://twitter.com/BarbaraJWalters. My take is that you are wasting your time. On this site, I highlight great people to follow on Twitter. Every once in a while, I need to contrast that with people who should stay off Twitter if they are not going to add anything significant to the social conversation. Ms. Walters has a forum on her TV shows, which is fine. It appears she should stick to what she knows best.
